Volvo: 92 740 Rod Bearings, shaft bearings, rod bearings

I am about to replace rod bearings in my 92 740 wagon.
B230 engine no turbo.  240,000mi
I am trying to eliminate a knock that appears when the engine is cold .
Any precautions I should take prior to opening her up?

By all means take the crank out and have everything measured getting bearing to match a cut crank. Have the pistons measured and the bore to see if you need the cylinders bored out. Get the new aux. shaft bearings installed. While taking it apart try to see if you can identify what was bad and where the knock was coming from. That will help assure that you correct the problem.
