Volvo: FLUCTUATING IDOL, volvo v70xc, electronic throttle

I HAVE AN 02 VOLVO V70XC WITH AN IDOL ISSUE. WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE RPM’S WANT TO RACE 300 TO 400 RPMS. IT SLOWS DOWN TO A NORMAL IDOL FOR A FEW SECONDS AND REPEATS ITSELF. CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY WHAT OR WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO FIX IT.

Idle issues are most times the fault of the ETS electronic throttle housing. I have even had one that had a poor idle and set no codes. There is a new software download that in most cases takes care of that problem. Have the dealer check for codes and see if your car is on the list as one needing that software fix.
