Volvo: volvo 1991 wagon check engine light, long periods of time, qestion

hi... got a qestion ... a couple of days ago my car died during idlw while i was wainting at a light soon the car pretty much just shut down though the music was still playing in my car. when i quickly tried to restart it it wouldnt turn over... a few minutes later i tried strating it again and it barley started up.....  then the car worked fine for the next day untill i was backing up out of the driveway when the car shut off completely this time. it started right back up though ... then once started up  the "CHECK ENGLINE" light came on! i dont really know what is causeing this any help will really be appreciated thanks so much .....

  ps the car does sometimes need to be jumped when i've been sitting in it with the engine off listing to music for long periods of time...

The check engine light will mean there is a code stored in the system and it will have to be read and the faults repaired. If the battery power gets too low after listening to the radio the battery maybe bad and or there maybe a fault in the charging system. Have the charging system tested and the codes read to see what needs to be done.
