Volvo: 1986 740 volvo transmission, volvo transmission, shift cable

My transmission sticks in 2nd when I first start moving.  If I take it our of drive (overdrive) and shift it to "3" it will then shift.  I can then put it into "D" and it will work normally for the rest of the day.  I changed the fluid and filter with no change.

Try and have the trans fluid flushed at a shop. They will use a cleaner to release the gum and tar, then flush all the fluid out of the trans not just a drain and fill. Also make sure the shift cable is adjusted properly. If that will not work then it is time to have a reman trans installed or even a used one.
