Volvo: Volvo Radio Code, volvo radio, turbo volvo

Question

Hey, I have a '96 850 Turbo Volvo which I have recently replaced the battery for. As such, the radio displays the word "code". I typed in the code no problem, only to see a another message saying "rpt". I have no idea what this means, and the radio still does not work.  I figured it meant repeat, so I typed the code a few more times till it said off.  Trying later on after it displayed the code message, I got the "rpt" message again and pressed the "repeat" button on the stereo, also to no avail. What does this mean, and what should I do?

Answer
Omid,
You have the wrong code and the radio went into lock-out. After sitting with the key in the acc position for two hours the radio will show code again. To get the right code get the model number on the face plate, the part number and serial number off the top of the radio. Call a dealer and ask for the code.
