Volvo: Failing blinker/blown fuse, volvo s40 2004, blown fuse

Question
Hi. I have a Volvo s40 (2004). All of the sudden my blinkers stopped working (and the backup lights). I checked and the fuse for them was broken. So I replaced it. After trying my blinker again, it worked for 1 second, and the fuse blew again. Can you give me some advice? My car is only 3 years old with 41,000 miles on it. This shouldn't happen! Is it covered by my 50,000 mile warranty you think?

Answer
Robyn,
You have a shorted wire or bulb in the system and you need to check all the bulbs for melted contacts and see if any wires are bare. Test other things that the fuse also supplies power to. If all looks good is the switch itself loose feeling and possible shorting out inside? This will require some time testing and checking all those areas. Take your time, slow and easy.
