Volvo: 1988 Volvo 240 Day Running Lights (UK), volvo 240, loose wires

Question
The dim headlamp day running lights work only intermittently. Is there a resistor or some other device which controls this and where is it located, please?

Answer
John,
No there is not a resistor, there is a headlight relay (under hood on rail by battery) and a daytime running light relay (by the steering column inside the car). Look at the wires at all these points (include the switch) making sure that all are tight and clean of corrosion. See that the bulbs and wires to them are all good and in working order. Make sure that the dimmer switch is not faulty check it for tightness and loose wires.
