Volvo: 95 850 GLE auto(UK model), auto 50, uk model

Question
Ray

I've recently purchased a 1995 850 GLE auto - 50,000 miles. I was driving it for 30 miles and it decided to cut out. Roadside assistance arrived and said it was the ignition amplifier - which was replaced. Started first time so I took it down to my mechanic for a pro-view. He came to start it and it turned but would not fire. He has since replaced the amplifier and coil but it still wouldn't start until this morning after a 5 day wait. It is starting now and thinks there may be a problem with the ignition/alarm system. Are there any pointers you could give as to where too next? Have checked the codes on the onboard diagnosis and they're saying there's nothing wrong with the fuel system. What do you think?

Regards

Answer
Jim,
So there are no codes in the fuel system, now look in the igniion systm. Try to read any codes there and see if that will get you started. Also see if when you are cranking the engine over there is fuel. A bad fuel pump or pump relay will not produce a code.
