HI, MY SON HAS A 1992 VOLVO 960 AND HE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT DOES S,W,E AND L ON HIS GEARS. THANK YOU.

The "S" is Sport position and the trans will hold out the shifts a bit longer and apply them at a faster rate. The "E" is economy allowing the trans to shift to high gear at a faster rate that would save on fuel. The "W" is winter mode where the trans will start out in 3rd gear so there is less chance of spinning the tires on ice or snow. The "L" is low gear or first gear.
