Volvo: battery dying, amp fuse, fuel pump relay

i have recently purchesed a 1987 VolVo 240 sedan the kid before me instaled an after market radio and he screwed up big time he spliced all the wires from the old radio conection to the new. i dont know what he did to it but it keeps drainnig the battery you think you could tell me something bout that; also he has a 25 a fuse running of the positive terminal on the battery i unhooked it and with it out the car dont start you think you could help me with that too? if you need any more details just tell me. thanks

I bet the 25 amp fuse by the battery is for the power to the control unit and the fuel pump relay. You will need that. Clean it up, tuck it into a safe place, neaten it up. Most all 240's have it. Take the car to a radio shop that is good and have that radio replaced with one that will not drain the battery. I do not see another choice. You need to have someone that can install the radio and not have it drain the battery. See if they are willing to work on the radio you have, that may keep the cost down.
