Questionwhen i start my car everything is regular and even if i idle for a minute or two it's fine. but when i start to drive, a louder humming or buzzing sound starts up under the hood. it sounds like something is pumping or getting activated. what is it?
also, my cruise control is very sketchy-working only once in awhile. what can i do about that?

Answerthe noise could be a solenoid or transmission, who knows, i'm not familiar with the emission systems on 98's. it's a great idea to check vacuum hoses with lot's of miles, maybe thats the problem with the cruise control. but so i don't have to do a lot of typing, everything is listed in the owners manual for the 100k checks and 10k 15, 20k interval etc.
