Volvo: 84 240 Volvo wont start, fuel pumps, cold start

My 1984 240 will not start. The car has a B23F engine. Symptoms before the car failed to start included rough running until the car warmed up. The vehicle would hesitate to accelerate while warming up.  Once the car warmed up it lacked power, and seemed as if the engine were running rich almost as if it were flooding.  The gas milage dropped from 29 miles per gallon to 23 miles per gallon. Both fuel pumps recently failed and were replaced. There currently is no spark. What are the possible causes?
Answer -
You'll need to trace the spark back to where it is failing, first at the distributor, then to the coil, checking for current the whole way.  The hard starting sounds like a bad cold start injector.  Pull it out and crank the engine to see if it is squirting fuel.  Also, if you haven't cleaned your throttle body in a while, that is also something that can encourage hard starting and poor performance.  Good luck!

Follow up: Which is the cold start injector.  How can I identify it?  Thanks for you help with the wiring problem. This was corrected.

Answer
The cold start injector is a special fuel injector mounted to the head of the engine, which helps with extra fuel while the car is cold.  It's hard to describe exactly what to do, so I'm going to suggest you pick up a Hayne's manual for the 240 series.  You can find them at Pepboys, and it will give you all the information needed to make a good diagnosis.  Good luck!
