Volvo: 1998 Volvo V90, volvo v90, cracked block

Question
We purchased a 1998 Volvo V90 with approx 116,000 miles and from the first day we had it we have had trouble.  According to the seller (a family owned dealer(not a franchise), apparently the alternator went and was promply fixed but the day that we got it back apparently the timing belt went and bent a valve and is now being fixed again.  Please let us know if there could be other damage caused by these breakdowns that we may not know about and if these events may have compromised the longevity of the car.   Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Answer
Hello Karen! The fact that the timing belt broke is a major concern. Not only can there be bent valves, there can also be other lower end engine damage. Such as, cracked block, bent connecting rods just to name a few. It is best to have a Volvo technician check and repair the car or you may end up with some serious problems in the future.
