Volvo: Scan tool for 1993 940 4-cylinder Turbo, diagnostic socket, flash code

I own 2 beautiful 1993 940 4-cylinder Turbos and am tired of taking them in everytime my trouble light comes on.  I've searched the Internet with no success.

Where can I buy such a code reader that would give me the code and shut off the light?

What else will I need to diagnose the codes and where do I plug it in?

Hello Rob! There is no generic code reader for your car. OBDII did not start until 96. There is a Volvo special tool that you will need. However, you can read the codes manually through the diagnostic socket under the hood. All systems can be accessed there. You will need to know the procedure and the flash code list.
