Volvo: Late Shift 1st to 2nd Auto 240 SE 1992, torque converter, late shift

Dear Jason,
Lately my 240 (1992) auto not shifting smoothly fm 1st to 2nd in morning or after long stop (engine not running). When shift fm 1st to 2nd to 3rd and then stop, the shifting back only to 2nd. Shifting back  to normal after 20-30 minutes driving. Pls advise. Tks & Rgds - Azhar

It sounds like you are starting to develop a serious issue with the inner workings of your transmission, possibly with the torque converter.  I'm afraid the only solution to this issue is to have a mechanic look at it, as you might be forced to rebuilt the transmission, or get a used replacement.  Unfortunetly they are almost impossible to service yourself, so I would search for someone who can give an assessment and quote for repair, preferably someone who specializes in Volvo.  Good luck!
