Volvo: Central Locking System-88 240, electrical diagrams, hayne

Question
as driver door is shut all locks lock automatically aside from driver door...clicking sound in the dash and battery ultimately drains.  Assume it is a relay, not sure which and where..?

Answer
It sounds like the relay continues to fire, relocking the doors continuously until the battery drains.  I believe that relay is under the dash on the passenger side, but don't quote me; they might have changed the location by 1988.  To be sure, you can check in a Hayne's manual where; in the back there will be electrical diagrams.  Tracing the location of the relay shouldn't be a big deal.  Another possible problem, however, is that the electrically based mechanism in the driver's door is shorting, causing the relay to fire constantly.  I would check that as well before spending a lot on a new relay.
