Volvo: 1992 Volvo 240 Oil Leak, flame guard, flame trap

Question
Thanks for the quick reply, Jimmy.  I'm not much of a car guy, so I have a couple other questions.  I located the PCV nipple ok, but the the other hose that I think goes downward to the flame guard is a little harder to get to.  Am I worrying too much about the hoses above that area?  I just don't want to screw anything up.  When you refer to the flametrap, is this the same thing as the "flame arrestor" that the Haynes guide I just bought refers to?  Also I have no idea where the breather box is. Thanks again for the help.

I've had a slow oil leak with our 1992 240 Wagon.  Only an occasional drop or two hitting the street/driveway.  I've had the valve gasket and front cam seal replaced.  Oil had also been slowly leaking out from the oil cap until we refitted the seal.  I'm still seeing the occasional drip and getting tired of paying for repairs if they're not the right ones.  Any suggestions?  What else should I check?  Any idea what any possible additional repairs might cost?  Thanks for any help.

Hello Jeff! Before you replace any more seals, check or replace the PCV element(flametrap) and the breather box. They may be clogged and need to be replaced. That may be the cause of the blown seals. You may have to re-seal the engine if it was badly clogged. I hope this info helps.

Answer
Hey Jeff! I would replace all the hoses that are connected to the flame trap. I would replace the housing too. The breathe box is under the intake manifold. I would leave that job to a Volvo pro. I'm not familiar withthe Haynes manual. I guess it would be the same.
