Volvo: Looking to buy used S70, volvo 240dl, great cars

Dear Jimmy,
I am finally ready to part with my Volvo 240DL, which I purchased new in 1989, and I am considering a used (2000) S70.  What is your opinion of this model?  Would you recommend the type that has higher horse power, etc., over the plain S70?  And finally, if you were contemplating purchasing a used Volvo, which model, etc.,  would you choose, and why? I very much appreciate your time and effort in answering my questions.

Hello Shiela! I am sorry that you are parting with your 240! I love those cars! If I were to buy a used Volvo, I would buy a 95 940 or 97 850 or ant S70. In my opinion these are great cars. However the 98 S70 did have some electrical problenms with bulbs and switches. A 2000 S70 should be a great car for you. Just make sure that it has been well maintained. Have it checked by a qualified Volvo technician before you buy it though. It is better to buy from a dealer sometimes. Only because you may get a warranty with the car. Most dealers sell used Volvos as "certified pre-owned." They are usually thouroughly checked and come with an extended warranty. I hope this info helps. I'll be here if you need me!
