Driving & Driving Test Tips: accident, scene documentation, post impact

Question
my son was in an accident.  here is what we know.  on a 2 lane road he and the car behind him were traveling north bound.  the other driver said my son made an illegal u-turn in front of her to hit the drivers side front tire of my sons suburban.  But both cars ended up facing south bound, my son in the south bound shoulder, her in the north bound lane facing south.  if it happend the way she says it did and with the way she hit him, wouldnt he have been pushed back onto the north bound shoulder? Even if he swang wide into the north bound shoulder to make a u-turn in front of her and she hit the driver side front tire of his vehicle wouldnt he be pushed to the right? no witnesses and my son had a major concussion, spending the night in the hospital, and no memory of the accident.   please give your opinion!

Answer
your description of the collision is very simple but I do understand your question.  the problem is that vehicles can and do roll during and after the collision, therefore it is possible for the vehicles to end up in the positions you describe given the alleged circumstances of the collision.  someone would have to look at the scene documentation to see what dynamics came to play and how the vehicles moved post impact.
