4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 2000 GMC Jimmy Service Engine Soon Light, loud thump, gmc jimmy

Jimmy just hit 37,000 miles and the service engine soon light came on. Nothing else seems to be wrong... The only noise that happens is when the car is turned off, there is a loud thump (kind of like an oil can being thumped) near the exhaust pipe and that's it!

Any thoughts??

Thanks for the question Jimmy.  Normally the engine service soon light is controlled by the speedometer, or actually the odometer and may be incorrectly calibrated.  I would not worry about it unless you have a service scheduled which you have missed.  Let me know if you have more specific questions.  Happy Holidays, Bud
