4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: REAR HATCH FLIP WINDOW, jeep grand cherokee, rear hatch

Question
Hi Carl,
My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee the rear hatch window release button stopped working I get nothing when I press the release button. I took the switch out and checked it out and it looks fine. I checked the female plug to the switch and get no continuity,it almost seams like the fuse is blown but that seems ok also the rear wiper, overhead light are on the same fuse and they work.Any ideas?(I called the Jeep dealer and they want to a dianostic test $89.00)
                                    Thanks,

Answer
Bob,

The first thing I would suggest, is that you purchase a repair manual for your Jeep.  They can be purchased at most automotive parts stores.  This will give you step by step instructions on troubleshooting your problem.  They, also include wiring diagrams that may be of help.  This manual, along with a cheap voltmeter would be cheaper than the diagnostic, and could be of use in the future.  If this doesn't work, see if you can find a local automotive electrical shop, and see what they say.  Many times, they will tell you the common failures in a system such as yours.
