4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: what kind of 4 wheel drive ?should i look into, bud ford, auto chassis

I have a question if I may ask?
 I am a 53 year old man with a disability (Bad Back)
I am moving to Tucson and want to get a 4 wheel drive
for just going out in the desert and such (level 3 trails not wanting into extreme rock climbing et)
 I have had 4 WD pick ups and such before back East for the snow and mud  but I am wanting a 4wd that, is an automatic and that will be just as low maintenance as one can get.
 I am partial to a Jeep CJ type but i am not sure if that would be the wheel for me in my situation .?
if any one has any opinions or good ideas please feel free to advise me on this if you have the time and the inclination OK

Hi Jerry and thanks for the question.  Since your back bothers you and you do not need an extreme vehicle I would rather see you go with of the auto chassis SUV's.  Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM all make vehicles like these with 4WD.  Go to edmunds.com and you can see and compare all of them.  I personally am on a walker and have a Toyota RAV4 which I love.  Best of luck.  Bud Ford
