Jeep: brakes squeek, rear shoes, rear brakes

Question
92 wrangler 4.0 5sp 120k
I replaced worn rear shoes, worn drums, and emergency brake cables (L and R), and I can't get the brakes to stop squeeking when the brakes are not applied. It seems worse after a left turn. It's been 5k miles since the repair. They work well, and my pedal doesn't pulse at all. I DID NOT REPLACE THE HARDWARE OR DO ANY SYSTEM BLEEDING when I did the rear shoes. The front and rear halves of the shoes were put on correctly, and the brakes and cable tesions were adjusted on installation. What do you think?

Answer
Have you isolated the rear shoes in order to be positive that is were the noise is comming from.A quick way to check if the noise is comming from the rear brakes is to push on the park brake pedal(while holding the release) and listen for the noise to go away,or the noise changes  then the rear brakes are the culprits. How ever if it is still there perhaps look at the fronts. You should be able to adjust the rear shoes so that there is zero drag on the rear shoes. I used to put the parking brake ratchet(which by the way is on a recall from Chrysler because half of them no longer hold)on three clicks and adjsut the rear brake drag till it held firmly then release and check the rear for sufficient drag.Did you put any lubricant on the rear brake backing plates where the shoes contact it(at the pivot points as well as at the ends of the starwheel adjsuted. sometimes as the rear shoes move in the drums the shoes will rub on the brake backing plates. Hope some of this helps.
