Suzuki: ticking noise inside EFI, pulse frequency, bypass valve

Question
hello, I have a 89 sidekick that has a ticking noise that I cant figure out. The noise is intermittent at idle and on start up.This noise is happening almost all of the time. If the noise is not happening,I can make it happen every time instantly by turning on the headlights or A/C (putting system under load). The noise is loud and seems to be coming from inside and down the throat of the EFI system. I have taken off the air intake manifold and see nothing on visualization. Thanks for your help

Answer
What you hear is a pulse frequency controlled air bypass valve that allows more air in to increase engine speed (basically the same as if you were to slightly depress the pedal)when increased load such as headlights or A/C would cause the idle to drop.  As long as the idle stays pretty steady, it is working correctly.
