Suzuki: Timing belt 1996 sidekick, mechanic friend, timing belts

Question
I've got a '96 sidekick 16v 1.6L that overheated and warped the head or
blew gasket.Have had head milled and new gasket in all buttoned up
started first crank no problems. After a couple of days it started running hot
and missing.Replaced the tensioner and reset timing, it was a few teeth
off.Have reset twice since then, now it seems to jump time when I put a
load on the motor.A mechanic friend told me the earlier models have a
"square tooth" timing belt.I have looked at several timing belts for the 1.6L
and they all seem to have rounded teeth on belt.Any suggestions?

Answer
Timing belts are one of three kinds - square tooth. round tooth, and "curvilinear" (a modification of the round tooth.
NONE OF THEM INTERCHANGE, NEITHER DO THEIR PULLEYS.
You will have to figure out if you've mixed styles or not, which could cause timing to skip.
