Suzuki: RPM limitation @ 4000 rpm, 88´ Toyota Camry LE Alltrac, toyota camry, alltrac

Question
Hi David, thanks for this possibilty for help. I am hoping that you could please give me some ´general´ pointer advice with what you think might be causing a ´mysterious´ acceleration problem for me and my 2.0 liter.  I have experienced a repeating acceleration problem when I drive my car (during both cold and hot conditions through all forward gears) , a certain acceleration problem that is absolutely baffling to me.  The most obvious time that the problem is made apparent is when I accelerate ´nice and strong´ in 1st gear to around 4,000 rpms, at that plateau my engine will then cut out like it is being ´cut-off / drop-off´ from receiving fuel or ignition -> but the thing is, I don´t think I have a fuel ´cut-off´ regulator or Ignition CPU ´rev regulator´ for a factory made sedan.  To best try to remedy this I have installed a new FRAM fuel filter, and also a new Japanese replacement fuel pump, and have new NGK spark plugs and a new Bosch Cap & Wire set and new Wells ignition coil.. still have the problem.  My exhaust is good and free flowing (idles fine, with strong defined exhaust flow/puffs*), so the latest that I have deduced is that it is probably the fuel regulator(I have heard of them giving trouble for the 86-91 Camry series one time in my life**) or, is it 4WD limitation type of issue in your ´general´ opinion?¿ *No Engine light either*

Thank you for any direction or hints you can give to fix this frustrating condition, uncle Jesse

Answer
I suspect a fuel injection issue.  The ECM makes all injection "decisions".
Rather than a "cut off" consider that perhaps the intake air mass meter is malfunctioning, and cannot send a signal to the ECM indicating that a full throttle engine is consuming an appropriately larger amount of air, and the injection is, consequently only supplying sufficient fuel for 4000rpm, believing that the signal is correct.
That's one possible scenario.
You need to get a technician to determine what is REALLY going on with definitive measurements.
Then the repair will, of course, be obvious.
