Suzuki: Samurai Dies when hot, temp guage, gas tank

Question
I have a 1987 Samurai that i drive on and off road. A few weeks ago i was on a trial when my samurai just stopped running. I believe i have an issue with the temp Guage as it reads "Hot" about 5 minutes after staring the truck. When it does die, the truck doen't seem to be getting any fuel to the carb. I can see thriugh the sight glass but there's no fuel. I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one, I have rebuilt the carb, changed fuel filter and replacced the temp sending unit(mounted under the thermostat housing, with one wire on it). I have checked the tempature at this housing using a temp gun but the truck is not over heating. Is there something that it telling the truck to stop running when it thinks it is overheating? PLEASE HELP!!

Answer
A couple of things come to mind.  It's possible one of the fuel lines is slightly porous, causing it to suck air instead of fuel when it tries to lift it from the tank to the pump.
Another is that the float/needle and seat is not happy when it warms up.  A third is that the gas tank filler cap and other stuff is not allowing air in to replace the fuel used - creating a vacuum in the tank.

There are NO over temperature shut down devices or systems on an 87 - I have one myself.

Try disconnecting the hose at the carb next time there's a problem....is the pump delivering fuel?
get back to me if none of these ideas lead to a solution.....
