Tips on Buying Cars: trading down, 2006 toyota 4runner, toyota 4runner

Question
WOULD LIKE TO TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR A LESS EXPENSIVE PAYMENT. DO DEALERS ALLOW TRADE INS ON A USED CAR?  I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE IN MY 2006 TOYOTA 4RUNNER ON A 2003 OR 2004 VOLVO S60.  DO YOU THINK A DEALER WILL DO THIS?  DIDN'T KNOW IF YOU COULD TRADE IN AND BUY A USED CAR.  THANKS.

Answer
I don't see why not... Most dealerships accept trade-ins on almost anything. It may change from dealer to dealer - but all the small and large dealerships here take trade-in's... I don't know how they would deal with the left-over cash involved.. I think that would depend on the dealer... If you owe more than the 4-runner is worth - it wont matter - but if the volvo is worth less than the 4-runner.. I'm not sure they would sell you the volvo and give you the left-over cash.. You may be better off selling the 4Runner (you will definitely get more for it) - paying it off if it's not - and then just buying a used volvo.. It really depends on how your loan status is.. - but in short - yes you can trade in on a used car - (at most dealerships at least)
