Tips on Buying Cars: 1994 mitsubishi pickup, mitsubishi engines, mitsubishi pickup

Question
im looking into buying a '94 mitusbishi pickup it has 140,000 miles i was wondering how long the engine and trani usually run for

Answer
Well I can't really answer that question... only because.. at that age and mileage, it really depends on how well it was maintained and how it was driven... The tranny could blow tomorrow or never purely based on how it was driven and cared for... same for the engine... I wouldn't be surprised to see one reach close to 200,000 and then one only make it to 100,000... It really depends on the trucks past more than anything... so its really hard for me to give any sort of estimate... if it is in bad shape (burning oil, slipping clutch, grindy shifts) it probably wont last long.. if its been well cared for and maintained... it could last years... and then theres still a chance it will die tomorrow... I just cannot give a numerical estimate... too many variables... sorry - if it helps, i've never heard of the tranny being a weak spot.. and most mid 90s mitsubishi engines (especially the 2.0 46g3 engine) are quite reliable.
