I would like to buy a mitsubishi mirage 1998, and im torn between two of them, but one has the letter j on the rear and i would like to know what does it mean???

I must ask where you are writing from, because the J model seems to have been built for european and asian markets but in the US the 1998 mirage was badged DE and LS... so if your are outside of the US, the only information I can find is that the hatchback/wagons were badged J and F, J is the lesser to the F model.  I cannot read japanese and that seems to be the only language the information is in so you may have to ask someone local to you.  If you are in the US and the car is J badged it may just mean they tried to convert it to the japanese model, or something of that sort... I could be wrong but I have looked all that I know where to look and that is all I have found.  Sorry I could be of more help, as far as I can tell there isn't a huge difference between J and F (they both have a 1300cc engine), the trim levels are probably slightly different but if you can't tell a difference it shouldn't matter.  Good luck.
