Tips on Buying Cars: landrover freelander, car cold, mechanic

hi paul
i am thinking or buying a 1999 landrover from a dealer i dont know the bad points about tis car cold you help me please to decide it has 70,000 miles on the clock looks great priced at £4200 have been told to beware 4x4 of that age could you give me your opinion.

Dont be concerned about 4x4 that age, but you must have a mechanic check it out to make sure its working properly...and i dont mean the mechanic at the dealer selling the car
