Tips on Buying Cars: Im a Girl & need another vehicle..Help?!, economical choices, 2006 uplander

Question
Dear Ray,
I'm a single mom of four small children and we need a new vehicle. I am considering a new 2006 Uplander for $21,000 + taxes financed at 0% for 48 months. It's one of the most economical choices with 7 passenger seating, practical interior for little kids who have no idea how much $21000 is (nor do they really care! LOL!), and it's a LITTLE sportier styling than the Caravan or the Ford. Is this a good choice? (Forbes didn't give it a favourable reveiw) Should I be consider something else or used? Either way I have to finance and prime is about 6%. My Criteria is 7 passenger seating, reliablity, economics and longevity as this will be my LAST family vehicle(the next one will be very sporty, very fast and only big enough for me and my purse LOL!)
I also wanted to ask you if purchasing extended warranty is worth it. To extend the warranty to 5yr(100,000km) bumper to bumper is $1740 with option to purchase additional 2 years afterwards.
I would greatly appreciate any insight that you can give me.
Have a great day.
Thank you

Maria

Answer
Hi Maria
I dont care about Forbes, i like your choice along with 0% for 48 months, and you will have a full 3yr warranty...

As for buying an extended warranty from a dealer its a cash cow,if your buying used then maybe, and then not from a dealer ...$ 1740 plus taxes and accumulated int is way over 2G,no way, besides who knows you may want to trade 2 or 4 yrs from now,and an extended warranty will have very little play to increase selling value...

Go to 2 dealers and compare,i assume you have done your test drives ?
