Tips on Buying Cars: used car purchase, alternative financing, carmax

Hello. I live in Kentucky and looking to purchase a used car. Not to get into too many details, but about the only way my wife and I can finance one is to go to a buy here pay here lot. There are several buy here pay here lots in my area with decent vehicles, as well as big dealerships now offering this service. My question is what should I look for dealing with these? i know the interest rate is higher, but what else? What questions should I ask? Any info would be appreciated.

DON'T go to a buy here pay her, the cars are junk and you will not help credit...How much down payment? You have a CARMAX in Kentucky, look where it is located and if not too far go there, they have some alternative financing and the carts are guarenteed not to be wrecks..Let em know if any other questions
