Tips on Buying Cars: Used car buying concerns?, credit score, buying a used car

Question
I was rear ended and my car was totaled, I am taking him to court but I need a car now. My credit is awful but my girlfriend has a score of 780! I dont want to spend thousands more for a car she could get at a way better rate. What are some pros and cons? (insurance,ect.)S.B. CA 92410 I need something around 250 a month, sedan/coupe, and I put around 40000 miles a year on my cars so is it stupid to buy a used car, that comes out to 240000 miles on a six year note, any car with that kind of mileage would put me in a bad spot down the road when I need my next car, if it would even make it that far.I need my payments low but I want to know if paying more for a payment will be worth it to avoid getting a cheaper car that will not handle my commute.

Answer
Hi Josh
$250.a month will get you a used car around the $10.000 range with good credit - blemished credit something much less
I like your words what are the PROS AND CONS...here are some thought to ponder on

# 1.Having a blemished credit score means your interest rate will have you driving a Sunfire while someone with good credit will cruise in a Cadillac for the same monthly payments...you must find transportation most reasonable till you establish your rating...the higher the amount at this stage the longer it will take to get yourselv back on the rails...( stay away from high payments )

40k a year is heavy duty, forget buying NEW your loss would be to up-side down for re-sale...
The whole trick here is really trying to find a used car that will take the miles and stay within your budget...lets start round one with you going to my website study a little and get back to me with more questions...

SUMMARY
Buying a used car is all about picking one that had TLC not miles...a car with 200K could be in better condition than the same with 80K...
