Tips on Buying Cars: lease car turn-in, chrysler sebring, mileage allowance

Question
I have to turn in a leased vehicle in a few weeks and I am confused about whether I should get the minor body work repaired first and pay out of pocket, or let the dealership charge me for it. I feel that, since I will be leasing another vehicle, I might be able to get that dealer to just take the car without charging me extra.
Also, the car is approx. 1,500 miles under the limit, so would that be a credit so to speak? Something I could bargain with to offset the cost of the body work?
The body work in question is a scrape on one fender and a dent in the driver's door. Car is 2001 Chrysler Sebring; otherwise it's in excellent condition.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Darla and thanks for the question.  Most leases specify that the car must be turned in with normal wear and tear accepted.  Whether the scrape and dent is considered is almost entirely up to whoever checks in the car, BUT, if you are going to lease another vehicle, especially from the same entity, they could make allowances for these minor flaws.  Not exceeding the mileage allowance and the fact that the car is in excellent condition is also in your favor.  You might have to fight a little for consideration, but it is worth it.  If you have a problem or would like more information please feel free to let me know.  Best of luck, Bud
