Vehicle is beautiful to look at.  '96 Explorer has 80K miles.
1) What are the things that are trouble or go bad for this vehicle?  For example my '93 Taurus with 63k miles has already suffered a blown head gasket, broken motor mounts, broken front springs, corroded front brake lines and complete brake failure. etc. What about the Explorer?
2)  Is there a reliable web site that lists the bad stuff for a Ford Explorer.

Thanks - Jim

hi,
same things...but also transmission, i would stay away from a vehicle that old unless the purchase price was next to nothing!

Thanks Steve - Still wondering - Are there no good "bad stuff" websites?
Answer -
I do not know a website, but again if it was me i would pass on this vehicle...How much are they asking???

STEVE

$5000 - as per Kelly private party.

Answer
Hi,
As i said, i would pass, but if you think it is really in great shape, offer $3900.00 and go somewhere in between, i would say no more then $4400.00, Kelly is only a guide, and with gas the way it is you can tell whoever is selling you the car you can purchase an equivalent ford taurus wagon, that will give you better gas mileage etc...don't just jump, i believe you can get it in the low 4K's...Let me know what happens, and good luck!
