Tips on Buying Cars: The TRUE Dealers costs for Vehicles, factory rebates, rebate info

Question
Your suggestion of Edmunds as the site for the TRUE COSTS to Dealers is not the one that tells the truth. There is one web site that does that, I know, I used it to nmake a deal for my 99 Silverado. It lists the REAL costs to the Dealers and the real costs to the Dealers on Options.
DO YOU KNOW THE SITE THAT WILL PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION???
NOT the MSRP ( We know that is not the true costs)
The REAL, TRUE COSTS to the Dealers.!

Answer
True cost can be very difficult to determine due to the way a dealer is invoiced.  Normally there is a vehicle cost that includes holdback, financial assistance, delivery assistance and perhaps more according to the factorys pricing policy.  Holdback is an amount that is billed to the dealer, but which he gets back at some point in time, however you would not normally deduct this.  Financial assistance is to help the dealer pay the interest on the vehicle while it is in stock.  Again, this is not normally deducted.  Also there may be factory rebates, volume discounts, special programs etc.  Edmunds will show you rebate info and will show you invoice price.  This is about as close as you will get.  Good Luck.
