Tips on Buying Cars: 2006 Honda CR-V, honda cr v, purchasing a used vehicle

Question
I am considering purchasing a 2006 Honda CR-V.  I test drove the vehicle and did not notice any pulling, noises, etc. I checked the engine and it is very clean.  The oil is clean.  I ran a carafax check on the vehicle, and it has passed emissions and safety inspectons.

The dealer is a Toyota shop and does not offer the CRV as a certified vehicle (it is a EX with 22000 miles).  They are looking to get $23,000.  Should I wait and purchase a certified vehicle? I would feel much better knowing the car has had a 100+ inspection.

Answer
Hi Karen,

Great question! A certified vehicle is your best bet when it comes to purchasing a used vehicle. Not only do you get a vehicle that was thoroughly inspected but to pass the certification the vehicle will need to have all four matching tires, owner's manual, no paint work, etc.

The Honda you're looking at does sound like a good deal if it is up to your expectations. I would insist on getting a fairly priced warranty that will complement your already manufactures warranty.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
