Tires: tire size, all terrain tires, nissan frontier

Question
I bought a Nissan Frontier with P265/70R16. The truck is a little high for me. I had a Dodge Dakota with P215/60R16 94V. I gave it to my daughter. My question is can I switch tires. I understand it could lower the truck by 1 1/2". Which would be perfect. Nissan said it may void my warranty and would mess up my speedometer. I know when I got my Dodge they had all-terrain tires on it and switched to street tires and it lowered the truck perfect and I had it 7 years with no ill effects. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Roswell,

No - DO NOT make the swap you indicated.  That would be going down in load carrying capacity and that increases the risk of a load related tire failure, which sometimes has tragic results.

Also, the 215/60R16's were too small for the Dodge Dakota.  You were lucky nothing bad happened and I would suggest you not stretch your luck.  Replace those tires with the correct size ASAP.  I'm not talking about next week - TODAY!
