Tires: fitting, dangerous situation, rims

Question
I am wondering if you can fit 16.5 tires on a wheel that has 16's. I bought a lifted truck that has 315/75/R16 on the front and 37x12.6 R16.5 on the rear and I found a set(4) of 38.5/15/16.5 tires. I was looking at matching all of them, they are near the end of their life and I found these 38's, but I'm not sure about the front end fitting. Thanks.

Answer
Shawn,

DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT mount a 16" on a 16.5" rim.  People have been killed doing this.

Yes, I know that was not your question, but this is such a dangerous situation that I want to repeat it as often as I can

No, you can not mount a 16.5" tire on a 16" rim.  Only 16" tires will fit on 16" rims.  The same is true for 16.5" tires and rims, as well as 15" etc.
