Tires: 2007 G35 tire, inflation pressure, 2007 g35

Question
Barry,

I was reading a post on the car I have.  I'm in Toronto/Canada and need some help.  I have an 07 G35.  fronts came with 225/50/18  and  rear 245/45/18.  I switched from low profile in Florida to all season in Canada.  The problem is I didn't realize the guys switched the size of the fronts to 225/45/18.  I started noticing a significant pull both ways.  I've done alignments and still nothing has worked.  I replaced the rear tire because one of them got slashed and now the fronts are very low on tread.  My questions are.

1.  Do you think the change in tire size cause this whole pull problem
2.  The TPMS sensor went on as well even prior to getting them originally changed. It happened when I moved up to Toronto after the first winter.  Any ideas and a cheap way to fix that?
3.  I've heard people just taking 17inch winters and putting them on and that helps out and sometime infiniti themselves do that

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Answer
Muhsin,

1.  Do you think the change in tire size cause this whole pull problem

No, But your description doesn't make sense to me.

Are you saying that the pull sometimes went left and sometimes went right?  If so, the only thing I can think of is that the inflation pressure was off.  They should have used 38 psi - in place of the placard 35 psi - but I think the pressure would have to be more than 10 psi off to get this.

- Or -

Are you saying the pull was to the left and when you swapped tires left to right, the direction changed as well.  If so, then the problem was the tires - a property called conicity.  but this is more or less a moot point as you are going to replace tire soon.

2.  The TPMS sensor went on as well even prior to getting them originally changed. It happened when I moved up to Toronto after the first winter.  Any ideas and a cheap way to fix that?

I assume you checked the pressure and it was OK.  That would mean the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced.

3.  I've heard people just taking 17inch winters and putting them on and that helps out and sometime infiniti themselves do that

First, it is pretty common to use a lower diameter rim for winter tires - and that's a smart thing to do.  You want to concentrate the footprint.

But I do not think your problems have anything to do with the staggered fitment.
