Tires: Suitable tires?, nissan sentras, tire placard

Question
A friend has offered me free winter tires from a car he just turned in. They are practically brand new--they are Nokian WR 205/55/R16 94 H/ XL.

Can I install these on a 2008 Nissan Sentra? Thanks.

Answer
Bob,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

BTW, it doesn't matter who makes the tire or what pressure is listed on the tire's sidewall, if the tire size is the same as the placard, then the pressure listed on placard is also appropriate.

According to Tire Guides, 2008 Nissan Sentras came in a variety of models  - and with a variety of tire sizes.  One of those sizes was 205/55R16.  If that is what the tire placard says on your vehicle, then, yes they will fit.  If not, then you will have to buy appropriate rims to fit your vehicle.
