Tires: Proper Tire Size, tire placard, doorpost

Question
My wife just discovered that she has 185 -14's in the front and 195 -14's in the rear on her 2002 Honda Civic. Is this a problem? A safety or maintenance cost issue?

Answer
Damon,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

You'll notice that the tire size comes in this format:  P185/70R14 - OR Letter, Number, / Number, R (for Radial), Number

So, there some information missing in your post and it is important.  Look at the placard, and the tires, then post back with all that information.
