Tires: tire/vibration, tire vibration, vibration problem

Question
I got new tires on my 2004 Sebring Touring conv and the developed a bad vibration  problem at about 2,000 mile.  They tried re-balancing them but the vibration got worse.  They put on a new set of tires which did not fix the problem so the tried 'truing' them...which I think is just an excuse for poor quality tires... and now I have all kinds of weights on my alloy wheels.  What should I do??

Answer
Janis,

If the vibration was caused by the tires, it would have been present the moment the tires went on.  The fact that rebalancing the tires and replacing the tires did not fix the problem points to something else in the car being wrong.

You need to find a mechanic who can deal with the rest of the car, not just tires.  Be prepared to describe when the vibration is present and when it is not.

For example:  If the vibration only appears when you step on the brakes then rotos are a good place to start investigating.

Providing some details will do wonders for diagnosing what the source is.
