Tires: LT vs P on Silverado with a Fisher Plow, fisher plow, cab 4x4

Question
I have a 05 Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 and run a 7-1/2' plow.  I find that my P265/70/17 have to much roll even at the max 35psi.  My question is will a 10ply E load do the trick, or will the ride be to harsh without the plow. Also with a higher E load and a psi of say 65-80 be so hard that the back will slide out in the rain or snow.  One more thing, what would you consider the best psi to run on a E losd, my door jam says 35psi, but that is for the P-metric.  thanks for your help!!

Answer
Jim,

I think there is something else going on, that you are misinterpreting as sidewall roll.  I suspect it's overloading the front end due to the weight of the snow plow.

1)  You should talk to the folks that make the snow plow and find out what their recommendations are.

2)  If I am right about overloading, the idea of going to an LT would be in the right direction.  BTW 50 psi in an LT265/70R17 is the same load carrying capacity as the P265/70R17 has at 35 psi.  So I would start there and increase the pressure until it feels right.

3)  Because your truck wasn't designed to take LT's and the higher pressures (higher spring rate of the tire), anything you do is going to hurt the handling of the truck.  I'm afraid that is not something you can get around without a major overhaul of spring, shocks and sway bars.
