Tires: directional tires, directional tires, cause vibration

Question
Can having 2 directional tires that were on back rotated and put on the wrong way in the front then drove for a few months before being changed cause vibration in front end??  Can it cause tire separation.  What is the best way to check??  Why would anyone even put 2 directional tires on a Nissan anyway??  Would you not want to do 4 if that is what you were going to do?????

Answer
Amanda,

You asked:  Can having 2 directional tires that were on back rotated and put on the wrong way in the front then drove for a few months before being changed cause vibration in front end??

-----No------

Can it cause tire separation.

----No-----

What is the best way to check??

-----If you have a vibration that developed from the tires, it is likely that the alignment is off and the tires have developed irregular wear.  You need to fix both the alignment, then rotae the tires, which will allow the tires to develop a different, non-vibrating, wear pattern. ------

Why would anyone even put 2 directional tires on a Nissan anyway??  Would you not want to do 4 if that is what you were going to do?????

-----If you don't rotate tires on a FWD, the front tires will wear out much more quickly than the rears (about 2 1/2 times faster).  Sometimes this catches people by surprise  - and since directional tires are more expensive, a non-directional tire might be put on in its place.----
