Tires: reversing the GoodYear Eagle RS A, directional tires, good year eagle

Question
Had tires changed on a Grand Prix with good used Good Year Eagle RSA P225/60R16 tires.  The tire shop reversed the tire putting the black wall to the outside. I don't mind the look of the black wall facing outward but read on the sidewall the words " side facing inward " making me wonder if these are directional tires ? Is it important to keep the correct side facing outward.  Is there any serious consequence if reversed and the other side faces outward ??

Answer
Grant,

These are not directional tires.  They are asymetrical tires - they are different across the face of the tread, inside to outside.

By reversing them, you don't get the benefit of the asymetry - which is usually traction vs treadwear.  So expect the traction not to be as good (especially wet traction), and the same would be true for the treadwear.

Is dangerous - probably not except for extreme conditions and in those cases you should have special tires anyway (like winter tires.)
