Tires: tire size for a 2001 ford escape, doorpost, noticable difference

Question
My current tire on my 2001 ford escape is a 235/35/16, can I use a 225 60 16 on the escape and still not have a noticable difference in driving?

Answer
Kevin,

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker - commonly called the placard - that will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box, but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

I think you'll find that your Escape's placard says that the original tire size was P235/70R16 at 29 psi.  That means the 225/60R16's do not have enough load carrying capacity - and I suspect you've written the current tire size wrong - I don't even see listing for a 235/35R16.
