Tires: Tire Sizing, 15 inch rims, changing wheels

Hi.

I am planning to buy an extra set of rims and tires for the winter season.  My Toyota Prius came with P195/55/R16 tires.  Is it possible to go with 15 inch rims and a different tire size?

In short, I'm looking for a "cheaper" alternative to the original tire size.

Ray,

 To my knowledge there are limited choices for 15" rims to fit your vehicle.  Your dealer should be able to tell you if there are any steel or other wheels available to fit your ride.  I believe your vehicle is equipped with a TPMS system also, this will have to be considered when replacing or changing wheels.  

A P225/60R15 is an equivalent size although, not an exact match to your stock size.  Also, your vehicle appears to require a "H" speed rating or higher.  This size 15" tire is difficult to find in stock and will most likely have to be ordered.  In addition a P225/60R15 is not built in a run-flat tire.
