Tires: Truck rim question for my 2005 Mercury Mountaineer, Rims, Ford

Question
Hi,
I am having trouble with my old rims that i used to have on my blazer. They are size 255/55/r18. I recently bought a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer and the wheel dimensions are as follows : 245/65/R17. I recently took the wheels off and tried to put on the wheels i used to have on the blazer and they fit fine but the lugs werent fitting on the thread.
Do you know if these wheels need the tuner lugs? Or just the lugs that will fit on the newer specifications? Or will these rims not even fit on the truck? I am relatively clueless when it comes to rims so please help me out here. Thanks in advance for your answer, i really do appreciate it greatly.

THANKS!
John

Answer
John,

GM and Ford use different bolt circles.  They are only 0.4mm different in diameter, but that is enough to render the rims of a GM product unusable on a Ford (and vice versa).  There is nothing that is going to make this work.

Your best bet is to sell the rims and get rims that the Ford.
